Description

The piece by choreographer Gundega Rēdere is an insight into the relentless, active and fluid process of how giving a part of one’s weight to another and taking part of one’s partner’s weight creates a delicate shared balance. It is about trust and balance while being off-balance.

Artist / Company biography

Gundega Rēdere is a choreographer who started as a ballroom dancer and later joined the dance theatre studio Grande. She got acquainted with contemporary dance in dance studio Ritms, where she danced from age 14 to 20. Her first teachers were Kristīne Brīniņa, Elīna Gaitjukeviča and Dmitrijs Gaitjukevičs. Rēdere studied contemporary dance in the Latvian College of Culture, and also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Dance Choreography at the Latvian Academy of Culture where she has gained experience from many local and foreigner teachers and choreographers and also participated in more than 10 dance pieces and performances. Rēdere has also taken part in an exchange trip to dance school Coline in France, where she performed in a work by choreographer Christian Ubl Tabula rasa together with the local students.
